May 15, 2008: FDA testifies that BPA is safe at the hearing on "Plastics Additives in Comsumer Products". In fact the Deputy Associate Executive Director, Dr. Marily Wind, for Health Sciences for the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) took issue with the studies that used unrealistic exposure levels to the chemical to show adverse health impacts. Dr. Norris Anderson, Associate Commissioner for Science, for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stated that are numerous BPA studies and that the FDA considered them all when making the decision that BPA was safe for use. The America Chemistry Council has urged the FDA to open another review and supports there efforts of the FDA Task Force and the clearing of the name of BPA.
